Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I am sitting in the airport in San Juan awaiting a flight to Antigua then back to St
Vincent this afternoon. The past ten days have been a crazy whirlwind of shopping in South Florida, to load up the
container. Much of the time I was able to spend up in Vero Beach with dad and Dollie – with much thanks for all their
help! I did have an opportunity to see my dear friend Fabiola in Miami, again working in some shopping on that trip,
too! How exhausting to shop for (10) hours a day! Everything from furniture to gym equipment to towels and kitchen
“stuff” – for three apartments. Hopefully everything makes it to the shipping agent in time! I flew out of Ft Lauderdale
yesterday, to spend one night in San Juan and catch today’s flights (a bit of a circuitous return to Bequia, but having
changed my flights from Monday, this was the only thing the airlines could squeeze me on to assure a return before
Thursday or Friday.) At least it brought a conclusion to the shopping frenzy! I actually had the opportunity to speak live
to Dee, Anne and Steve last night – great to hear your voices! Ted – I hope the proposal went together well! (See, I am
still keeping up with the Hermosa Beach ‘goings on’!)
I did have some sad news last week. Just before leaving Bequia for Ft Lauderdale, I had adopted an adorable “island
puppy”, decided to name her Tao and had a friend taking care of her until my return (Rossi was enough to care of for
Jeremy!). Sadly, she came down with something a few days later and passed on in her very early puppy life. The only
fortunate side of this is that I had only “known” her for about 20 minutes before I turned her over to her temporary
keeper and she was not staying with Jeremy when she went – he would have been devastated. I was very sad to hear
of the news and can only wish her well in puppy heaven, along with Martini.
Meanwhile, Rossi is doing well. In my absence this past week, Jeremy has been teaching her the importance of coming
in when he calls her (there is no way to keep her “indoors” and she is intrigued by the exploration of the outside world)
– seeing she had her first confrontation with “another cat” and evidently was scared silly and after a little scuffle with
Jeremy trying to coax her inside, has become a much more “obedient” feline. Is there really such a thing??!!
Even though I sent all of my Christmas tree ornaments to storage in Connecticut, there is a store on Bequia that takes
orders for live Christmas trees! So I actually will get to have a real tree for the holidays! (see, it’s the little things in life
that count!!)
Well, as always, stay in touch and let me know when you need a suite booked! I will hopefully be revising this website to
a more “professional” one, as the year comes to a close. I will be including suggested flight itineraries, photos of the
property, rates, etc. so start planning your trip to beautiful Bequia!
(Tim & Jena – I will send you some links for non-skippered charter companies I have found out about, from St
Vincent…)
Take care!!
