09 April 2006 Sunday

I am going to cheat a little bit on this journal entry and simply include two recent emails I have
sent which pretty much summarize recent and current events…

Excerpt one:
Life in the tropics is good - busy getting the property up to speed and recently adopted two
puppies. Started following up on some creative outlets - pottery at the local studio, gave a shot
at glass cutting & etching  and most recently received my box that was mailed last August! with
all my jewelry making supplies. Also trying to get back playing tennis, discovered a group that
plays beach volleyball on Sundays and hope to get my wind surfer and kayak in the water in the
next couple weeks. Meanwhile, staying busy with the Bequia Sailing Club organizing the annual
Easter Regatta, one of the bigger island events.

Excerpt two:
Friday April 7th…
hello all,
As I know I cannot always reach everyone on weekends and my home phone voice mail is
getting 'worked out', just thought I would send a quick email.

Since Tuesday, my friend Patricia has been starting yoga classes on my back deck every few
evenings in collaboration with the GYM which I started opening on Wednesday. No takers yet,
but LOTS of interest for "after Regatta" which is coming up this next week. I have relatives of
friends booked to stay in the upstairs apartment this Sunday or Monday, for two weeks.  Yeah!!
My first customers! (although I have been getting bookings for next year along with deposits for
those!)

Tuesday was a nice birthday - Jeremy & I spent a little time at the Pottery finishing some of our
pottery pieces before firing. Patricia had the first yoga class, which was a gift unto itself! Then
Jeremy poured champagne on the deck before we went for a very nice dinner at Friendship
Bay hotel.

Big news is the local hole in the wall bar, the New York Bar raised beer prices to $5 EC
(equivalent to about $2 US) so everyone is boycotting the bar and going to another local dive
down the street!

This next Wednesday starts the beginnings of Easter Regatta with preregistration and much to-
do with coordinating prize giving, gift bags, selling merchandise, registration and I am also on
the Race Committee Boat, so we have flag practices and
coordination meetings, leading up to the actual races which are on Friday, Saturday and
Monday.  Sunday (Easter) there are family activities such as sand castle contest and crazy
craft race. Each of the actual race day evenings, there are big sponsored
parties with Monday night being the big prize giving night and finale party. It should be lots fun
but also exhausting!

I have started my painter, Kenny, on exterior painting - starting with the back concrete block
wall which is now  "conch shell" pink, the driveway retaining wall has been primed and as of
tomorrow, will be the new "pale lemon" yellow which will also be the new building exterior
color. The walkways and back deck areas will get the same faux terra cotta finish as the
interior floors and front decks have been done (Jeremy does this part). Then Kenny will start
on refreshing all of the white trim, shutters, doors, etc. After Regatta, Jeremy is going to
"build" a small addition outside the downstairs apartment (where the puppy run
is now) for a laundry room & storage area which I desperately need, as there is NO storage
inside the apartments and I brought too much "stuff"!!  I will also start moving forward on the re-
roofing project, as the existing asphalt shingle tiles make the apartments EXTREMELY hot and
this summer will not be fun, if I don't move on that soon.

Well, that's life for me, in a nutshell!
(oops – I forgot to mention the "kids" - Rossi is gradually acclimating to having the puppies
barking at her when she wanders downstairs, as they do keep a distance once she starts
hissing back! Razmataz & Saffron are growing incredibly fast and love the activities we take
them on - last week was a hike down to isolated Ravine Beach then other days we have taken
them to
Princes Margaret Beach where they are starting to like swimming more and Saffron ran the
entire length of beach up & back with a gal that happened to go jogging by - she LOVES
running on the beach! Raz just sits & whimpers while Saffron is on "a run"!)

1) mom, I hope Bill is recuperating back at home and you are getting some rest.
2) dad & Dollie, I hope you two are feeling better & over your colds.
3) Lynda & family, getting ready for your activity filled summer.
4) and Donna, booking your flight to Bequia!! love & miss everyone!
xoxo
Lisa

Until after Regatta…
