House projects including GYM “mostly finished” & coming soon – The GYM web page…BTW leaning
toward fully non-smoking facility; GYM getting / staying busy – goes in waves…at time of this “catch up”
writing, the GYM is going pretty well – for an “island gym” anyway!
Friends in for Tradewinds…my sister’s friend Bonnie and her husband, Mark, from Santa Barbara,
“stopped in”. They were going on a week’s sailing trip with Tradewinds…great to see them, albeit briefly!
Hopefully they will be back soon!
Start up construction to “finish” …”just” started phase two construction last week (mid-October!!).
Plan is to complete last year’s project which is a plunge pool and the deck area…a bit slow in starting, the
guys presented me with a schedule to complete by December…fingers crossed! Nice team working on it
though…will update photos as they are available!
Hope to be back in states in late summer…friend’s mom to house sit…yes, this did happen. Finally
booked my flights for late July – a couple weeks in Connecticut then ten days in Ft Lauderdale. My friend
from DC, Adrian, had suggested his mom come down here at some point, so at the end of the day, it worked
out for her to fly down and house sit for the first week I was gone. After that, Kenny, my gardener/painter/”
everything guy”, stayed to look after things…even as Tropical Storm Dean was bearing down on the area –
luckily passing just north, hitting St Lucia and Martinique. My trip was great – lots of fun in Connecticut and
even made it out to South Hampton to see “LA Dee” who was there visiting her sister. We went to the
beach, popped in on the Havrillas, with Michael also being in town, went horseback riding, out for
cocktails, breakfast in the AM then a private boat ride all the way back across the sound to Connecticut,
thanks to Jen’s neighbor Patrick! All in a matter of 36 hours!
Back in Connecticut, Donna flew out for the last five days I was there and we both flew out of Hartford the
same day. In the mean time, I managed to get some great yoga in at Riverdog Studio! Loved it and even
convinced Lynda to come try it! Dad & Dollie had their annual summer party while we there and of course
we had the traditional family lobster dinner!

Down in Ft Lauderdale, caught up with Doctors appointments, shopping and friends Fabiola & Henry. Flew
back just after Dean passed through, although due to delays at Miami airport, I had to take a late flight to
Barbados and overnight there. Thanks to Andre’s connection, I was able to stay last minute at a friend’s inn
at St Laurence Gap. Coffee the next morning then back to the airport. Sadly, while checking in, I received a
call from Lynda who informed me of my mom’s dear companion, Bill’s passing away in his sleep early that
morning. At 104, Bill lived an amazing life, and as sad as we are to have lost him, those that had the great
pleasure of knowing him, all know how blessed we all were!
With much difficulty, I eventually was able to find a flight (actually Cindy at Grenadine Travel, finally found
one seat available!) out of the Grenadines four days later…in the mean time, Jeremy was back, having
sailed his boat down from St Lucia to avoid Dean. After two years, with trials and tribulations, we brought
closure to our relationship. Jeremy is a great guy and I wish him only the best and do hope we can remain
friends as time passes. It was all a rather chaotic several days, as he was leaving to get his boat back to St
Lucia and then fly up to Tampa to continue on where he had been the week prior, readying a new motor
boat for passage and delivery to resort in St Lucia; I was trying to check in on things in The GYM and at
AQUA, with guests here on their honeymoon…my trip back was quite “a trip”…ferry to St Vincent, flight to
Canouan, overnight in Canouan (good thing there – I was able to have dinner at Majella’s new beach front
restaurant and catch up with her!). Next morning, 7:15AM flight to St Lucia, then to San Juan, then to
Chicago, THEN to Cedar Rapids, Iowa! Fortunately, Donna had arrived the day before so was there to wait
with mom as my flight was (typically!) delayed out of Chicago. Lynda, Nick, Alex & Christopher arrived the
next day…the services on Monday were a real tribute to Bill’s amazing life. Mom is hanging in there,
although, as would be expected has her ups and downs.
Puppies & cat update – will be adding “must like dogs” to website!
Saffron and Rossi
Razmataz!!
Saffron’s favorite place!
Well, at the time I wrote this outline…all was good on the pet front. Sadly though, about six weeks ago,
about a week after I returned to Bequia, Rossi, my 16 year old cat disappeared. After hiking through the
woods behind my property, scouting for her, I reluctantly concluded she had done what many cats due
“when it is their time”…I kept walking up the road above my house, put signs up, let people know, etc, to
no avail. About three weeks after her disappearance, a gentleman I know who is building a house on the
hillside over and above my property had a “Rossi” sighting…at night, she was eating from their dogs’ food
bowl and scurried away but he was certain it was her. I have since called and called for her up around
where she was seen…hiked up the next area, Bequia Estates and inquired with neighbors in that area…but
no Rossi to be found. At this point, as much as I do still keep hoping to see her come walking down my
back yard, I hope she is peacefully in “kitty heaven”. I cannot bear the thought of her wandering around
lost, scared and without her Fancy Feast…as Donna said, she thinks she is sitting on Bill’s lap, keeping him
company, in heaven!
Meanwhile Saffron and Razmataz are growing somewhat more obedient…I am convinced that Saffron is the
very smart one and “chooses” to be disobedient while Raz is very obedient but not necessarily the
smartest one! They both are proving to be EXTREMELY protective of me and are very good watch dogs!
They eagerly await their afternoon swim at Lower Bay or their walk down the road & swim at the bottom of
the road – either way they love the water!
Booking up for next season – things are fairly well booked for this coming season…hopefully some
of my LA friends will start planning ahead for late spring/summer 2008!
WOW…not sure anyone is really going to read through all of these recent updates, but at least I feel a little
more caught up! NOW... I can start on more regular updates and current events!! Hope everyone is well -
send me updates yourselves!
